Neighbors of the Gleneagle Golf Club are irritated by a plan to raise $1.5 million for a new irrigation system by building houses on the driving range. Especially upset are residents of Eagle Villas – 28 patio homes that surround the 11-acre driving range.
Here is a look at Gleneagle, the Eagle Villas neighborhood and the proposed development.
The golf course says it has no other way to finance the irrigation system, which it says is critical to the future of the course.
It has launched a fundraising plan called Eagle Memberships which, if successful, would be the first steps in turning Gleneagle into a private club again. Go to its website, www.gleneaglegolfclub.com, to get more details on the memberships.
And here is a drawing of the plans for the driving range, should the membership drive fall short of its $1.5 million goal.
